It’s a monumental reunion as all three of your hosts are once again in the same room.
After some quick catching up and a timely Captain Planet reference, Luke tells Vass and Matt all about his recent reporting on gentle density. Can building small residential additions on top of retail stores help cities deal with their housing issues? And will the rise of gentle density help Vass finally fulfill her dream of living in a shipping container?
In the second segment, Matt bums everybody out by talking about child poverty. It turns out Toronto is the child poverty capital of Canada, and no one really seems to want to do anything about it.
Finally, Vass tells us about a new report on hidden homelessness. We talk about how the precariousness of today’s economy and occasional bouts of toxic mould make it too easy for people to fall into temporary homelessness.
In our thumbs up/thumbs down segment, Luke says a bad word about transit, Matt tangles with Trump and Vass doesn’t vacillate on her appreciation for laneway housing.
